We only use Arial in our projects.

Our first oversea project having trouble with Vietnamese font.

We use Arial Unicode MS thinking it has something to do with Unicode font. It s better than Arial but some words with accent combinations results in weird symbols, mostly boxes.

  • I hope someone here with experience can give us some guidances of how best handling this. Thanks.

Use Aerial and download Unikey to type in Vietnamese.

Hi Toan,

Arial absolutely not working in Rv for Vnm. We thought this is going to be piece of cake, for myself is a Vnm, and I use Vnm very often on the phone, thanks to Android.

Turns out it costs us more time than the design itself. So our first set out we used all text in English. We have the associate guy in VN translated everything in Words, email back and copy and paste. This is when we found Arial font was not working, producing weird symbols inside Rv.

We download the Unikey thingy earlier, but it has bugs, some accents are not working, specially the most used ones, "dau sac" and "dau huyen". We thought the digital signature is the problem. Turns out even so, the instructions on their website is not on-par and up to date either. And to update newer version, it won't override the previous one (to be safe, we earlier downloaded the stable version).

So as the PM, I said "what the "f",  we went back to English, and the hell with the translations. We don't care if the project gets moving at this point...End of story.

Hope someone here has ACTUAL EXPERIENCE on the matter to help. The ones in VN still work in Cad, so no help...

(Not to mention we don't know the end result of printing to pdf yet, maybe that s also a big problem)

No issues here.  I actually did not need to use Unikey at all, just installed Vietnamese Language pack for Windows 10 and set the keyboard to VI when I need to type in Vietnamese.

Hi Toan, thanks for being patient.

We tried as your saying. The Arial font is working on the sheet, but not with the title/border family, weird boxes still there, as said earlier. For now we made do with both Vietnamese (without accents) and English in parentheses for the border and try to be brieft. The Vnm associate is now going around town to ask for solution from his friends who use Rv.
