Vanity sink not visible in some views

The standard Single Vanity Revit file sink disappears in some plan views, but works fine in others.  I've checked the cut planes and they're the same.  I've opened two revit files side by side to compare view template properties as it's working in one project, but not another.  They are the same.  I've toggled hidden elements.  It reappears, but is not part of the highlighted items that can be selected (perhaps because it's a family within a family?)  This is literally driving me insane.  Please help!

To check for visibility settings issues, what i usually do is create a View Template from the view  that looks "correct" (View ribbon > View Templates > Create View Template from current View) and apply it to the "incorrect" view. if it fixes it, its a view setting and i start going thru the views VG settings (not the VT settings) and try to find whats wrong.

common misconception with VT's is they don't Undo settings. if the setting is not being changed by the VT, the VT typically leaves that setting alone. I have a "_RESET View" View Template where i force everything in every category ON and to there default settings. i apply the _RESET View VT to make sure everything is ON, then i apply my desired VT. it usually works 🙂

If it shows up in Reveal Hidden Elements mode, why can't you just select it and make it visible?  Probably was hidden via Element overrides.

@hmunsell Your system gave me an idea.  I turned everything back on in the view template.  The sink appeared.  As I slowly started turning things back off, the sink disappears when I turn off a linked CAD file, our site plan.  I have no idea why it would be tied to the site plan as the only things in that CAD file are from the civil engineer and it contains ZERO building elements.  If I hide the site plan in the view, the sink disappears.

@barthbradley  It reappears, but it shows up as black and is not highlighted in pink/red like the rest of the reappearing objects.  I imagine it's because it's hosted within the casework family that contains the countertop?

please tell me the Civil file is LINKED and not imported..... 🙂

@hmunsell It is indeed linked (gotta keep it current as we receive updates!) and not imported.  Linked files also show up in the imported category tab for VG Overrides in the View Template settings even though it's only linked, not imported.

@hmunsell I can also turn off all the layers within that linked file and the sink will stay.  So it's somehow tied to the link itself.  Though I have no idea how.  Makes no sense to me whatsoever.

eTransmit for Revit maybe so we get the CAD file too.....

@barthbradley  @hmunsell  I'm not sure my boss would want me sharing the file???  I'm just a lowly designer/draftsman 😉  So for now, I'll just have to accept it's weirdly attached to that linked CAD file and leave that on while turning off all it's layers 😂.  Thank you both for your help!

Have you tried un-linking the CAD file and re-linking it? grasping at straws.....

@hmunsell I think I did?  I removed the linked file altogether from the Revit model.  The sink was no longer visible when I did that (in this particular view template, it didn't disappear from the project.)  So I clicked the "undo" button.  So not a full remove/re-link?

FWIW, you can group and save out of your Project only a small relevant portion (without proprietary content) and post that one here. Me and my peps do it all the time.

Can you post the family? I think someone may have edited it. The plan view has an imported CAD file to show the lines of the sink. That would then turn off when the imported categories are deselected in VG.
