Using Shared Parameters for HVAC space temperatures

I am using Revit to complete HVAC load calculations for the first time and am having trouble setting it up so I can specify different room temperatures.  I have read a couple of forums that say I should add a shared parameter for the temperature specification, is this the easiest way to do it?  And when I get the shared parameter added, how do I use it to enter a temperature value?

You've posted in the Architecture forum, are you working in an architecture model or mechanical? Have you looked at Spaces, they are the MEP version of rooms and contain many more design parameters. The expected workflow is to link an architecture model into a mechanical model so spaces can be created where rooms are. The Heating and Cooling Loads feature looks at the details associated with each Space as well as the boundary elements that define them to arrive at a result. The Space Type parameter allows you to choose from a table of types that provide an array of design parameters (see image). See Heating and Cooling Loads for more info.
