Using Different Grid Types for Specific Views/Templates

Hello,

Is there a way to change a grid's type according to a respective view template or something similar? I'm trying to use gap grid lines in my enlarged plans, but changing the center segment parameter to "none" changes the appearance of the grid in all of the other drawings as well (obviously). My goal is to have enlarged plans with grid gaps, and elevations with standard grids with no gaps. What are my options here?

Thanks,

Anthony

Have you tried filters?

Yes, I tried filtering out the Center Segment parameter from the grid type properties but it wouldn't show up in the Filter Rules.

You must have missed something. It works for me.

Let me rephrase that: I'm able to filter the Grid Lines (as you've done) and can change visibility, line color/type, etc. I'm wondering if there's a way to filter out just the center segment type parameter of the grid lines to create a gap? It seems that Revit only allows you to change the line weight & color of the entire grid line.

I've also tried overriding the line type of a gap grid and it only changes the visible ends (which is expected, but I just wanted to see if it could override the center segment and make it visible again). I apologize if I'm illustrating this poorly, I appreciate the help!

I don't see an illustration and I don't use that feature. Don't really have time to figure it out.

Sorry.

Other than the use of filters to either make them invisible or overriding line pattern eintirely (including bubble) Revit doesn’t support per-view grid line type and/or Center Segment changes natively, so you have to use workarounds like hiding grids, using detail lines, worksets, or separate views.

The workaround which I have seen used quite comenly is

  • Line Based Detail components
  • or having dupplicate sets of grids (each having a different type and on a different workset). The visibiliy setting may then be controlled via the view template
