Use same view template for floor/ceiling/section/elevation/3D views?

For one reason or another I always had separate view templates for each discipline for ceiling, floor section etc. So my mechanical views actually have at least 4-5 templates (one for floor, one for ceiling and so on). Same for architectural, lighting etc.

This has the disadvantage that if I want to make a change (make something show in half-tone, or in fine, or to make something not show at all, or apply filter to make specific systems be in a color etc.), I have to apply the same change to all 4-5 templates of one discipline.

But now I have the idea to just use the same discipline template to all the view types in a discipline. I tried that out in a small project and it seems to work fine so far. But I haven't tested it thoroughly yet. The only downside seems to be, that if I want to change the view template, I have t change the view type filter to "all" (since my general view template is based on a floor template, it doesn't show up by default in ceiling views and I have to manually show all view templates.

I work in multiple disciplines (A, M, P, Lighting, Electrical). So consolidating view templates would make things easier. Now this sounds like a really good idea, but I'm sure there is a reason to do it my original way (separate templates for floor etc.).

My questions (assuming in one discipline I want to show everything in the same way in all view types):

- is there an unintended consequence or drawback to just use the same view template per discipline?

- Does anybody else use a single template per discipline, or does everyone use a separate template for ceiling, floor, 3D etc.? and why do you prefer the one method over the other?

There some properties only applicable to certain types of views such as View Range, Underlay, Orientation, System Color Schemes for Plan/RCP; or Depth Cueing for Section/Elevation.  If those need not to be controlled by your view templates then sure you can share one template for different view types.

Thanks. It looks like floor plan templates has the most adjustment options. So I base my template on a floor template. the available options in a template change once I apply it to a different type of view.

I think for this small project I just keep trying it out until I run into a wall.
