Upgrade to 2016 from 2015

Hi I am fairly new to revit. I have only recently downloaded revit 2015 but my uni uses 2016. I have been told to upgrade as I can't work the same project on different programs. I just wanted to check do I have to download the whole Revit 2016 program again or is there an update option I am missing somewhere. If I do need to download do I need to uninstall 2015 from my computer first. I have started download on Revit 2016 but it says I have 4500 days of download remaining.

No updating from 2015 to 2016. So you have to download the whole 2016 package. As it is several GB you will need a relative fast internat connection.

You do not have to uninstall Revit 2015. You can use both version side by side.

As you probably noticed Revit projects and families are not downward compatible. You can upgrade your families and project to the newer verfsion but not the other way around. As soon as you save something in 2016 it can not be loaded in 2015 anymore. So if needed make sure to have copies of your families and projects if you want to be able to load them again in 2015.

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.
