Unjoin two generic models?

Hi. I'm modeling parapet wall flashings using a generic model family. They seem to join autimatically the way i don't want them to, preventing me from extending them further:

This is what i'm trying to achieve:

I can only do this when they are situated at slightly different heights, which seems like an "incorrect" way to solve this problem.

Disable Automatic Join.

edit...actually, I don't understand the issue - or the screenshots.  Can you post the file?

Okay, maybe you are referring to the insertion point of the family.  If so, put Origin Ref Planes where you what them in the Family. The intersection of the x,y,z Origin Ref. Planes is the insertion point of the Family in the Project.
