Universal IFC format not so universal

Why is it that autodesk as a BIM software product does not garantee the stability of the ifc file format which is the worldwide file used by BIM users.

So revit is only a BIM system when you exchange with other revit users.

Twenty years ago Allplan was allready a fully open BIM system.

Change your business model and become really BIM please to help the small companies as i am.

Since you mentioned the stability of the IFC file format, can you let us know if you ran into issues during IFC file transfer? 

Also, which version of Revit are you using?

What is it you are having issues with in particular?

To be honest im a small company and trying to connect different software programns to get to my goal. I was very happy to see i could use Formit a intuitive programn and thought maybe i can make furniture with it (because yes im still on Revit LT 2015 standalone). I was delighted to see if i save it in 360 it makes a Revit file. But a Revit 2018 which i cant load into my Revit 2015. So my frustration lies in the fact that (yes i know its a businessmodel) the interchangebility of files is limited. If ifc is the real standard then you should be able to go to whatever file you want in any version. (but then the way autodesk earns its money should also change). I hope in the future people have more choices of freedom like the phone market. Dont get me wrong i think Revit is a good product but working with autodesk products for over 25 years i found its file formats are always a limitation (even with its own autodesk products). A standalone software product that changes cad formats to ifc and other software would be welcome and worth a million dollars.
