Understanding View Range

I have a cabinet placed at 4'3". It starts from 4' and goes up till 4'6". When I keep my view range settings as these:

Top: Associated Level Offset: 19'

Cut Plane: Offset: 3' (or) 2'

Bottom: Unlimited Offset: -0'1"

I do not see my cabinet.

However when I keep my view range settings as these:

Top: Associated Level Offset: 19'

Cutplane: Offset: 6'

Bottom: Unlimited Offset: -0'1"

I can see my cabinet. Why does my cut plane have to be above my cabinet? I have my pipes running at 18' and I can see my pipes in both the View Range settings.

It depends on the category of thr family... some categories show when they are between cut plane and top offset (example: generic models, casework,window) and other families not, they need to be either cut or below cut plane...if u need to show the latter when they are in overhead location, ie above cut plane, you could do either of the following:

1. Simply change its category to one of the above mentioned 
2. Add an invisible line in the family that would intersect the cut plane in the project 
3. Use the nested shared generic model workaround

Casework, Generic Models, Windows families can show on plan even it they are above the cut plane.  Share you family here.

It is a Specialty Equipment family so you can refer to @RDAOU suggestions above.  Any of them should work.
