Unable to select architect ribbon tab

I've been experiencing technical issues with the drawing ribbons inside Revit 2016 product.

 

I've input the Product Key & Serial Number and autodesk had confirmed that my license is activated. However, till date I am only able to launch the Revit 2016 product, but not being able to click on the Architect > Modify / Build etc, Structure ribbons to draw.

 

Really appreciate your advise on this matter. Many Thanks!

  1. Are you sure you have the correct serial number which you have received from education community?
  2. check you email for the license number and key that u received from Education Community and update license accordingly (the license number shown in the image u attached might be wrong I believe

I don't know if this applies here, but I had the same problem a year ago with 2017. It wasn't that the Ribbon wasn't there; it was an issue that caused it to be covered up. Something to do with a Dynamo GUI conflict. At that time, it was a known Autodesk issue. It was resolved by uninstalling Dynamo (or not installing Dynamo during initial setup). Certainly, if you have a license, Autodesk should be able to walk you through this.

Hello,

 

Thanks for you advice. I'm sure that the serial number and product key I've obtained is the correct one, I've check with Autodesk and they confirmed that the serial number is activated properly. As there isn't any issue with the license key, autodesk have redirected me to post my question in this forum.

 

I am only able to launch the software, however all the drawing ribbons are in lighter colour, and I'm not able to select/click any of them - hence not being able to draw. I've uninstalled the software completely and reinstalling it for a couple times and it still does not work.

 

Please advise if you've come across such issue. Many thanks!

Hello,

 

Thanks for the information provided. I am able to see the ribbons / tabs though. However, the ribbons / tabs are all in a lighter tone colour and when I hover my mouse over any of the drawing components (i.e. walls) I'm not able to select/click any of it.

 

Uninstalled and reinstalled the revit 2016 software a couple times and it still doesn't work. I've also approached Autodesk about the matter, however they are only able to advice that the my license is activated and directed me to post here for the technical issues.

 

Please let me know if you've come across such an issue. Many thanks!

Ok Looking at the image you have posted (again) I believe I know why!

 

THE REASON why you cannot select the architecture ribbon is because you are on a sheet view

 

You need to switch to a plan/section/ceiling ... Etc view 

 

  1. First Enable the project browser by going to the View Tab >>> User Interface >>> check Project Browser
  2. Then another view ... example: Floor Plans Level 1
