Unable to print only a particular sheet in Revit

I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO PRINT 1 PAGE SINCE 5PM LAST NIGHT FOR A CLIENT TODAY.  IT HANGS UP AT 50% AND GOES NO WHERE!!!!!  I LEFT IT PRINTING ALL NIGHT AND STILL HUNG UP.  I HAVE ADOBE DISTILLER AND CUTE PDF.  I'M ALL UPDATED AND WITH NO ISSUES.  I DIDN'T HAVE AN ISSUE A FEW DAYS AGO.  I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING, READ PAST FORUMS, ALL UPDATES ARE INSTALLED!!!  I TRIED RASTER / VECTOR, COLOR, GRAYSCALE, BLACK AND WHITE STILL NOTHING!! I HAD TO EXPORT EVERYTHING TO AUTOCAD AND PRINT THE PDF THAT WAY.

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND COST ME MORE TIME THEN EXPECTED.  I AM NOT GETTING COMPENSATED FOR THIS AS THIS PROJECT HAS A BUDGET AND MY COST IS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS.  I (AND ASSUMING MANY OTHERS AS WELL) NEED ANSWERS!!

Try setting your pdf-printer as default in windows.

Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers > Right-click PDFprinter > Set Default

Hi @RJK42

Sorry to hear that you are having issues with printing.

Could you please file a case with Autodesk support and include the following information:

journal and a screencast of what you are experiencing?

We will also need to look closer at your files. Please share a date-set for further investigation.
Revit - Collecting and sending diagnostic data to Autodesk Technical Support

Meanwhile, did you try a repair of Revit, and doing a quick check for virtual memory and RAM?

Regards,

Did it hang that you need to restart the program or did it hang in a way that there was no PDF came out? If the latter, try CTRL+P to start print instead of the print button. It works for me every time.

I let it go for hours, and nothing happens.  I use ctrl+p all the time and same result.  Nothing is working at this point.  I and leaving it in the hands of Autodesk.

This is only happening to one specific sheet.  I needed to try to continue on with other sheets and I'm not having a problem.  The particular sheet is nothing more that a DWG background and conduits, where the other sheets have all trades turned on for coordination.

Is the viewport custom cropped?

Yes,  as it is the same as the others, but only one sheet out of the list is giving me issues.

What I mean is if the view is cropped to a custom non-rectangular shape.

@RJK42 so that narrows it down to a linked file.

Can you relink the dwg and do a clean-up of the dwg before you bring it inside Revit?

  • PURGE: Removes unused named objects, such as block definitions and layers, from the drawing using a dialogue or the command line.
  • AUDIT: Evaluates the integrity of a drawing and corrects some errors (command line).
  • SELECTSIMILAR: A simple method to select objects based on similar properties such as layer, color, name, or line weight.
  • WBLOCK: Saves selected objects out of the current drawing or converts an existing block to a specified external drawing file.

Let me know if this helps!

@RJK42 also see article : REVIT - some elements from linked model not printed and the recommendation is to Unmark Hide Crop Boundaries checkbox in Print Setup.

Let me know if this helps!

I had the same issue; the virtual memory ate all space in my SSD drive. I move the virtual memory to D drive which has plenty of space; then I never have this issue anymore.

I honestly didn't think this was the issue so I tried this last.  I thought the winner was the one that told me to change my virtual memory location.  There are 2 wings on this buildings. The west wing is true north while the east wing is 45°.  We wanted to have it all on one sheet so I split the wings and oriented them correctly and it worked!!!!

Bravo!!

Now I just have to figure out how I can get my time back? Do you think Autodesk will compensate my lost?

Thanks for the reply, I tried this way thinking it was going to work, it was the crop view issue! So ridiculous for that to hang up over.

Thanks again!

Someone asked about zoom extents and that helped me solve my issue. Somehow lines had made it off the sheet (specifically 4 peach pixels in 2 different location- I have no idea where they came from or how they got there) and that was making the print preview and the sheet show up as blank. Once I found the extra lines and deleted them- I could print the sheet, my site plan sheet no longer showed up blank. Hope this helps someone

It may have something to do with other pdf program, like Cute Pdf. I know you have Adobe pdf as default, but try to delete this Cute Pdf for a chance.

Also, you can exclude that sheet from the set. And try to print that sheet later on, just by itself. Sound like a RAM issue as well.
