Unable to place or move component onto a set work plane

Hi All.

I have created a corrugated roof panel and trying to place onto a set work plane in my project. I am able to set active work plane to an existing roof slope but when I place component it get placed on my lowest level and not my active work plane? I try to set new host but appears only flat horizontal surface can be selected...cannot even select a vertical wall to host component?

What am I missing with work planes or why can my family component not be placed on and flat (horiz.; vert. or sloped) surface?

TIA!

Cheers!

Rick...

Your component families must be work plane based. Edit them and check Work plane box.

Thank you! That worked and in addition I needed to uncheck 'Always Vertical' too. I will mark 'accept as solution'

My family is checked for work plane and unchecked for always vertical. It will associate to the work plane, but won't adopt the slope, remains vertical. It has nested families that I have ticked correctly.
