Unable to install 2024.1

When i try to install the Revit 2024.1 update, i get this notification:
R2024.1_installError.png

I've uninstalled Revit 2024 and performed a clean uninstall.  The path indicated in the image is the location of the installer resources (not sure what the precise term is) that contain RVT.msi and the 'setup.exe' is exactly the one i used to reinstall Revit 2024.

why doesn't it recognize the RVT.msi as valid?
