Unable to create form - Help needed <3

Heeya, I am a somewhat new user to revit and have to draw a difficult type of roof for a project.

The idea is the form of an ammonite as a roof, so starting wide and high, and slowly going in a curve towards a much smaller form. 

However whenever I try to ''create solid form'' It says that it's unable to create the form I need. Is anyone able to help with the issue? Give out pointers where my issue may lie so I can chance this?

Use the spline tool to draw the reference spiral on the reference plane.

Select the two endpoints of that spline and turn on the visibility of their reference planes.

Set one of those reference planes as the workplane and draw your profile on it. So the same for the other also.

So now you should only have two profiles...one at each end. Don't want the others along the spiral.

Select both of those profiles AND the spline line, and create form.

Now you can use the form tools to add additional profiles along the spiral if you want.

Please try the sweep form from your path and you can sketch the 2D profiles perpendicular to your path.

When you create the initial profiles they should be similar in shape.  If you have some half-donuts and some half-pies then it will likely throw out an error.  After sweep the form, you can edit or add profiles along the path as needed.

Okey maybe this all is a bit too difficult for a first-year schooler *facepalm*

I made the spline with two profiles but they just don't seem to match for some reason. 

I first had my spline in the ''middle'' of my profile but in that way it impossible to complete my roof. However, when I put the profile on like the corner of my spline it's easier. 

Is there a way I can say revit to go from the outer spline to the one next to it(which would be another curve in the roof)? Because the roof has to be closed?

Maybe my drawing for the roof will help show light on this issue.

Heeya is there anyone who could have a look at this

At most tries, I did to make this roof it says cannot create swept blend. Not sure why it's doing this or where the error message can be resolved. This is the form I have now made with a spline tool. 

Please help me out with this one really wanna get this roof on there 😄

@Anonymous  It's not clear how this roof is supposed to cover this building. Based on your previous messages, I thought the roof was covering some kind of space that had a plan in the form of a spiral, which could have been solved as shown in message # 2 above by @chrisplyler

But now this new image from yours shows the interior layout of the project. How is a roof like this supposed to cover this building? Do you have a roof plan in 2D that shows how this works and how all the areas areas covered?  A spiral shape needs some space in between to develop itself. Are are those spaces in between being to be covered?

How do I leave my revit file(2018) here if I cant get past the X amount of bytes you can use. 

And the roof is supposed to be a spiral like an ammonite but I cant seem to put a like half cirkel as profile quz it says cant create swept blend for some reason.

How big is the file? You can always strip it down to include only the items you need us to look at. Or find an alternative cloud to upload it to.

I split it down to just the roof, let's see if it works now. Basicly as you can see in the picture I send in my more recent post. The Spline I made is the outter edge and has to be pulled to the line next to it, but for some reason it can't do this with half a cirkel as profile.

So I am really far, I got the shape, I got profiles I believe but it still doesnt wanna connect, can someone have a look at this file and see whats causing the problem?

We checked your file. The form cannot be created due to a self-intersecting geometry error. If we divide the path, then the profile is generated, but we cannot get the form in a spiral path. We can place the spiral path at the mid-point of your closed loop arc, but we get a different form. 

However this works when we created a generic model and used sweep between two profiles

This helped me out a lot but I dont seem to be able to make the blend. I use model line for the lines in my drawing, then copy paste this into a family in attempt to make a swept blend out of it yet it wont allow me.

Any chance you could put that file on the forum here so I can mess around with the measurements and see if this allows me to fit the roof on my building?

Good to know that you found this helpful.
But sorry to hear that you were unable to make the sweep.

I created a 'model in place'- generic model and selected sweep blend, created a spiral path and 2 distinct profiles curves to create the blend form.

If you do not want the curved form to be roof based then select generic model.rft

Below are pics if you want to try this in 2017. There are so many form variations when the spiral and one curve is selected and vertices tweaked. It is fun playing around with this 'create form tool' and sweep tool.
