Revit says my model need to be upgraded from Autodesk Revit 2009 or earlier to 2017. But when I try to upgrade it, it fails to open the document.

Are you trying to double click the file and open Revit file?

try to open Revit application first, and then open the file... it should upgrade...

I believe you have more than two revit version installed ..

Also, don't forget to check the Audit box before opening.

If you still have a Revit version between 2009 and 2017, open (and audit) the file there first.

It's best to upgrade an old file in steps.
