Twinmotion 2025

Twinmotion 2025 was released last month,  I've been keeping an eye on the autodesk/twinmotion website to see when us Revit user can download it and it wasn't immediately available for download when it was released to the general public.  But now I see we've been given access to it.  When I go to the autodesk website>my products>twinmotion, version 2025.1.0 is available for download.  However, after I install it, and try to create a new twinmotion project from Revit, Revit tells me a compatible version of twinmotion isn't installed...

Has anyone been able to get Twinmotion 2025 working with Revit?

I was able to get it to work by having both Twinmotion 2024 and 2025 installed at the same time.  "Open in Twinmotion" command from Revit creates the project in Twinmotion 2024, then I save the twinmotion file.  Then I opened Twinmotion 2025 and opened the project, which converts it to 2025, and saved the project. Datasmith synchronization works even in the 2025 twinmotion file!

I think Autodesk just need to update the twinmotion plugin to recognize twinmotion 2025 so that we don't have to keep 2024 hanging around...

Maybe because they issued 2025 way before TM2025 and now that 2026 is around the corner, its not worth it to upgrade the plugin just right now. Mabe they will do that with the next release - two birds one stone. That's how they make money you know, they focus on the important stuff wand the secondary ones can come later on along the way.

Out of curiosity though, what are the breakthrough options in TM25 which one does not have in TM24 and are a must have?

Haven't tried it yet, can you export from Revit to udatasmith file and open it in Twinmotion that way?

I few pretty critical ones actually:

  • IES lighting profiles are no longer rotated 90 degrees horizontal, so lights exported from revit with IES files actually shine correctly now.
  • Accurate shadows (less bleading of light through thin surfaces)
  • Support for Level of Detail (LOD), which allows us to have more complex models because now only what is on screen is being rendered based off of distance from camera.
  • Volumetric clouds is pretty cool to, although not critical.

Tried it yesterday, works fine. Updating the model also went without issues.

Thanks for the response, I afraid I can not link my Revit to twinmotion, and I can not install the datasmith in epic games,

I guess Revit 2025 and Twinmotion 2025 don't need datasmith, does it true.

I never used Revit 2024 or Twinmotion 2024 before or installed in my computer.

Twinmotion 2025 open perfect, I tried to export Revit file into OBJ and import into Twinmotion, that works perfect but I cannot link the twinmotion into revit

is there anything I missed?

Hello,

I have a problem with the direct link from Revit to Twinmotion. When used, it only shows me a Twinmotion-Container of the project, as always, but this container is empty. so ich got no transfer from revit to twinmotion. Because of the release of Revit 2026.4 and Twinmotion 2026.2. we updated our programs, but the problem still exists with the newer version. Any Ideas what I can do?

This is a common issue right now—Twinmotion 2025 may not yet be fully recognized by Revit. Make sure both Revit and Twinmotion are updated to the latest patches, then try reinstalling the Twinmotion Revit plugin. If it still doesn’t work, check Autodesk’s forum for the official compatibility update or hotfix.
