Turn off Revision Schedule / Title Block

I've searched for this for a while but couldn't find anything 😞

I'm trying to create a visibility parameter to switch off the 'Revision Schedule' which is part of our title block/sheet family. Everything else in the sheet has the visibility check box apart from this schedule!

Can anyone please help?

Create another titleblock family without a revision schedule, load in
projecr and swap ttitleblock types when needed.

That's probably the easiest answer, I was hoping to only have a single title block family so the schedule could be switched off and on as required on the fly.

On the fly, you can mask it with a Filled region in a Generic Annotation family. We use this for other purposes but it can mask anything on the title block...otherwise it is 2 title blocks one with and another without (these you also switch on the fly...its just the first time which is a bugger)

Thanks but I don't think that quite works. I've added a Generic Annotation Filled Region to the sheet file and even made it conditional so it switches on when we want the boarderd (and revision schedule) hidden. 

However when the sheet file is loaded into the project, the Revision Schedule and other elements are on top of the filled region so it doesn't work, any idea why? Screen shots of Sheet vs Project attached.

@AndycMacp The above shown is a mask on the sheet itself, not within the titleblock family... Anyway, what's the issue with using a seperate titleblock family without the revision schedule? You can switch the titleblock on the fly...

I understand that would be more straightforward to have a separate sheet family without the revision schedule. However, we were looking to create one family where most of the sheet elements could be switched off on the fly without needing to change families, for draft presentation issues and proper document issues which may need to be produced back to back for example. 

I had presumed there would have been an easy way to turn the visibility of the Revision Schedule off?

1. That was a generic annotation family masking the title block IN THE PROJECT ...not in the title block family
   • You can mask all Revision Schedules on all Sheets and associate its visibility with a global Parameter. Then use that to switch On/OFF whenever required
   • Maybe the shape handles might have made that look confusing because Generic Annotation families do not normally have shape handles when loaded into projects - but this GA family has been slightly tampered with to have them
2. No there is no ON OFF option/possibility for revision schedules

Ok, but I don't really see how it would affect any of that tbh... perhaps I'm missing the point. Simplest solution is most often the way to go, right? edit: ...or perhaps the issue you're having is with the use of shared parameters.

I can see where he is coming from and what he is after is fair and justified...If he needs the same "sheets/title block" to be used for draft issue (without Revision) and final issue (with Revision), Switching Title Block types would be quite tedious when you have 100 something Sheets of different formats. 

I wouldn't do that manually and would use Dynamo but the Generic Annotation workaround can come in handy if you associate its visibility with a global parameter => 1 click and all revision schedules on all sheets are hidden (however, when I created that stretchable annotation the intent wasn't for hiding revision schedules lol)

Another workaround might be reloading/overwriting the titleblock family used in that scenario (use same name). To elaborate; have these similar titleblock families in different folders (draft issue/final issue folder). Go to insert -> load family -> select the one from drafting folder or final issue folder and overwrite the titleblock family in project. (relatively on the fly, but I can imagine not ideal... ^^)

@RDAOU Would you be able to share your stretchable Generic Annotation Mask? I tried to create one following the blog below but couldn't find the right family that would allow me to copy the Reference Plane (2022) Thanks!

@RDAOU Also, sorry to be a pain, but the generic annotation mask does not block off the revision schedule when the PDF is produced. It does mask it on the revit screen, but maybe this is something to do with the family we made?

I have recently been recreating/updating all our libraries, template, etc.  I came across this same issue.

My work around, which I found useful, is create a SYMBOL, that is a white mask region the size of the Revision Schedule.  This symbol then has visibility parameters, and also actually masks the revision schedule (or whatever else you want/need to mask).
