Trying to create a family that repeats nested families in two dimensions

I work for a contractor that, among other things, installs raised access floor. We have Revit families for all the system components, but placing them individually, or even arraying them every 2' can take a lot of time (i.e. 150,000 SF). I know that you can build a line-based family that will repeat nested families along it's length. Is there a way to do this along two axes? Ideally, I'd like to be able to draw the outline of the area to receive the access floor and have it populate the components into the correct placement. I'd also like to be able to shift the position of the 2' modules within the access floor without shifting the position of the boundary - kind of like what you can do with the tile locations in an acoustic ceiling.
