Transparent Object Shows Opaque when Cut in 3D

I have a family that is supposed to represent clearance for an the entire room. (Basically an extrusion with transparent material properties applied.)

The transparent element shows up fine in 3D view until it is intersected by the 3D cut, then the side that is intersected displays as opaque. I can achieve the desired transparency on all sides by using override graphics in view, but I want the element to be transparent regardless of if is intersected by a 3D cut. Is there a way to make this the default behavior for the family?

^Current behavior, where the close side of the blue clearance box is gray because it is being cut in 3D.

^Desired behavior achieved by graphics override, where the blue clearance box remains transparent regardless of being cut in 3D.

What category are you using? Is it cuttable?

If I place a generic model and assign it a transparent material, it maintains its transparency when cut by the section box.
