Can someone explain the point of copying and pasting a line type from one project to another if the line pattern doesn't also make the transfer?

Hi. Are you trying to copy the same line style from one project to another? What is the objective?

There is no "copying and pasting a line type ", but maybe copying line styles, weights or patterns between projects. Anyways this won't affect the project were you are pasting the line to, because the line style from the host project is overriding the line style you are trying to copy. This makes sense so you won't override line styles, weights or patterns just by copying.

If you want to transfer the same line style from one project to another use transfer project standards:

  1. open the 2 projects (origin and destination)
  2. Manage > Transfer project standards > (select) Line styles
  3. Overwrite the line style

If you do this, the line weight,  color AND pattern associated to the style will be overwritten.

This worked to get me the line styles I wanted, but it also overwrote all the other line styles I had created.  Wasn't really a problem because they were temporary colored detail lines not meant for final documents.

is this still supposed to work in Revit 2022?  I tried to follow this method to transfer project Standands with Lines Styles and Patterns checked.  I picked the overwrite button and it didn't overwrite any of the patterns.
