Transfer Project Standards for Section types

Hi All,

I am trying to transfer a section view type from one project to another using the Transfer Project Standards tool. Unfortunately when I do this the section view type does not transfer. Any help with this would be appreciated...

Insert Views from File (Insert Tab=>Import Panel=>Insert from File)

That only works for drafting views and schedules but thanks anyway....

You want to Transfer Model Views???

Ah! You mean the Section Head Families! Duh.  

Strange that you can't Transfer them.

Its not the actual view I need its the view type, I've made a new section view type set to a template and amended callouts. I loaded the section head family needed by the view type before transferring the section types but it still won't transfer....

My workaround has been to cut and paste a section with the correct view style....

Sorry, @Ross_Robertson. Maybe I need another cup of coffee this morning.  I understand now that the issue is with Section Types not transferring.  I just tried several approaches to try and replicate your issue, but I cannot.  What version of Revit are you on?

You just need to create a Section View Type with the same name with the one you want to transfer over, then the transfer will work .

yep that worked, weird its not covered by transfer proj stnds..

This didn't seem to work for me. What category do I need to click in transfer project settings? There is not "Section Type" Category.

Yes, I'm sure.

The only thing that comes up is 'section tag types'. That didn't seem right but I tried with it and it didn't bring over any of the type properties to the blank section types I created in the new document.

Are you using Revit LT?

I think they renamed form Section Types to Section Tag Types.  Try it.

I did, it didn't bring any of the section type settings over. I'm looking for the identity parameters (like the applied view template, and the checkbox to make new views apply that template) to be copied over. But in the end, if I have to create a section type in the new project with the same name anyway it's only a few more clicks to set the view template as well. Seems like a silly miss on Revit's part.

i just found this topic because i was having trouble with Section Tag Types not transfering any Section Types (system family) over to another project with the project transfer function.

What got the job done was simply copy pasting existing sections from one project to another.

1. Copy a section (wich is set to the section type you wish to transfer to another project) on floorplan to clipboard 
2. Paste the copied section on a floorplan in the other project

Result:
the section gets pasted and the section type gets added to the project.
You can delete the section after pasting it or modify it as you wish.

Side note:
Really hope they will add the option to transfer section types to the project transfer tool,
i thought that it used to work like that before , before section types got renamed to section type tags
