Toposurface texture rotation

Hello,

Question: i have created a toposurface and want to show a texture which i took from google-earth.

I created a material with the right proportions to the google earth picture (print screen) but when i apply this material to the toposurface the texture is in the wrong angle and position.

Is there a method so i can reposition the texture without moving the toposurface? Model patterns do not work with topo.

Hi,

you can control the image (angle and position,....)( as per the attached print screen) but this if you are uploading your needed image at the tab of "Appearance" which will be seen at the model at the "realistic" mood only.

And As for the model pattern , it works so good with the toposurface as well (see the attachment),and you can any model pattern as you need.

I wish I helped you 🙂

Hi Rana.Hamed!

Thank you for the quick reply!

Image rotation and position offset do work indeed but now i have another problem: The texture (image) which i use appears mirrored when used with toposurface! If i use the texture for floor or wall etc then the image is correct!

Strange thing for a toposurface to mirror an image. In the manage-->materials the linked image appears to be correct.

So now i'm going to mirror the linked image with irfanview and see if its mirrored again....

Yes the image looks to be correct when used as a material with a toposurface (it still is an mirrored version of the right picture).

Well it looks like the position-offset and rotation is the way to do it! The image is now at the right place and angle.

Still strange though that when a material with texture (image) is applied to a toposurface the image is mirrored, as if the texture is applied to the underside of the toposurface.

Clipboard02.jpgAnyway this looks so much better!

That does indeed look very nice. I've never tried that before.

HI

I'm doing a similar toposurface and mirrored the image so it shows properly. The only problem I have is I can't get the offsets to work but the scaling works. Any idea why the offsets will not work?

The incompatibility between Autodesk products amazes me. I have the same problem using an image created by Formit. It is a pain every time I try to use information created in one Autodesk Product into another Autodesk product.
