Topo and model on different levels

Hi all,

I am new to Revit and stuck with my topo on sea level and model on level 00.

My project is a small house addition and I was told that, in that case, was better to have the topo on the same file.

How can I manage to have the house and topo on the same level? (level 00 should match the level 160 of the topo)

If I relocate the project 160 up the topo also moves up.

You may want to take a look at this video. It covers how to get a topo and a project positioned in relation to sea level elevations. It may resolve your issue.

Hi @Anonymous,

If you select your topo object, you will seee that it is hosted by a level...

Which means that the points hava an altitude relative to that level...

You have two solution:

1. you correct your level, and then move your topo vertically at the reverse value (change level to 160, move topo -160)
2. you duplicate your level, name it level 0, and make it the new host for your topo (cut-paste on level should do the trick!). You can then move your project level to 160.

By the way, check as well that your survey point and your project points are correct (survey should be at 0, project at the altitude of your choice), it will allow you to display altitudes according to one point or another .

Thank you, I have watched that video. The issue is that topo is not on the same level as the model. In the video everything is on 00 level. In the shows the issue I am having: I use relocate and the whole thing moves up.

Thank you for your response.

Here is what I did:
1. Relocated the project up 160.1
2. Selected the level and chose to report the survey point and it is
correct: level 00 now reports 160.1
3. I selected the topo and moved it down 160.1.
4. Edit the surface and when I click in one of the points they show the
values based on 00 (0'-0") instead of the value of 160.1

I need the topo to show the correct sea level value. Is it possible?

I have tried the solution 1. My steps:

1. Moved the site down 160.1

2. Relocate the project to 160.1 up.

They end up in the same level BUT the issue is that now my topo reads the points at 00 and not at sea level.

It is normal,

it will show elevation according to its host...

That is why I personnaly prefer creatin a "real 0" level, that hosts the site...

It is different when you annotate it though, then you can choose the reference point... (but I guess you already know that!)

Could you please explain the process of hosting the topo into the 00 level?

Yes of course!

I haven't done it in a while, but if I remember well, the only way to do it is to cut/paste the site.

So what you will need to do is:

1. create the "absolute 0" level
2. create a plan view based on that level
3. cut and then paste your site in that view

Hope I am not missing a step or two in there...

Thanks but I am still lost. If I cut and paste the topo in a level it will show at sea level as well.

If I change the spot elevation to show the survey point it will show sea level, if I move it down, it will show the level 00.

Do I need to change the survey point?

Here are the steps I usually follow if I have to model them on the same file:

1. Relocate the project to the sea level 160.1

2. Move the site down 160.1

3. Find the Survey point and move it clipped up 160.1

Now you will be able to read both levels in both, model and topo.
