Title block label Width Factors

In my Title block, I've got labels; Sheet Issue Date, Drawn By, Date/Time Stamp, etc.

Each label has it's own Type, and in my "DRAWN/CHECKED BY" Label Type, I have the Width Factor set to 1.2, which works fine with my DRAWN BY/CHECK BY labels when I bring the Title Block into a Project.

However, with my "PLOT DATE" Label Type, I have the Width Factor set to .7. When I apply this Type to my Plot Date label, it shows fine in the Title Block Family, but when I load it into my project, it does not, it shows as Width Factor 1. When I change the Width Factor to ANY number, and reload into my project, my label stays the same 1 Width Factor.

Now here's the weird part, when I apply my "DRAWN/CHECKED BY" Label Type to my Plot Date label, it shows it with the 1.2 Width Factor as defined in the Label Type, but when I load it into my project, it shows as the .7 Width factor that was defined in the Original Label Type that I'd like to use.

hi Sean,

hard to say whats going on without the family.

please provide an example. if you don't want to share the original family delete the critical part and leave the things in which cause a problem.

best regards,

Jeff

There's a screencast of me having the problem.

As a side note, this is happening on all the workstations at my office, since we started using Revit a year ago. Recently, I completely reformatted my computer and reinstalled BDSP 2017 with all Service Pack installs and updates, and experiencing the same thing.

Define a different font with the fixed with.  It appears from the video your overriding the text style which would be a global change to the project.

The issue is caused when you load a family with the same style or setting as those in the host file.

The host file rules the day and will make the change to revert to the style as set in the host, not the loaded element.

I would suggest you either update the style in your host to match the style you desire in your family. or you create a new style in the family to set the style.

Hope this helps

Still no. In the Title Block Family, this piece of information is a Label family. I've created a new uniquely name Label family with the width factor of 5, load it into the project file, and I get the same results. It's the date/time label that gives me problems. If I set any other label to this label style, they work as intended. I can have all my labels this 5.0 width factor style, and they all go to 5.0 width except the Date/Time label.

Date/Time Stamp is a special parameter that always shows at the Width factor of 1 when loaded in a project.  I don't know any reasons except that it needs update in real time unlike any other parameters.

Your best bet is using a narrow font such as Swiss LtCn Bt or Arial Narrow.

I  have the same problem Revit 2018.

Which i rephrase: When editing my title block family i set up on the family editor space every text type appears just fine, whether it is for a plain text, or for a -label-. But when inserting it into the project the text type of the -label- which content is any date fails to show the correct type or width factor.

Any suggestions

Use a narrow font for Date labels.
