Tip: How to control the render appearance of linked models

Steps to follow:

1. Open the 'linked’ model & click on Manage Tab > Phases -

2. Create new phase after the last phase and rename it –

3. In Graphic Overrides Tab click on 3 dots next to 'Phase - Exist' -

4. Under the Appearance Tab for the 'Phase - Exist' Material you can choose a colour or add an image to control the render appearance -

5. Save & close the file.  Open the main model, select the link & click Edit Type -

6. Click 'Edit' Phase Mapping -

7. Select the new Phase that was created in the linked model -

This controls the render material of the entire link.

I suppose you mean to make a clay model (in realistic mode)...? 😉

You added some steps there to linking the file, although I would suggest not nescessarily to link it to the links Phase Mapping type properties but rather setting Visibility graphics for the Link (Object Styles/Phase/Phase filter to <By Linked View ie.) Good method though... edit: using the VG settings you don't nescessarily need this additional phasing in the host model I mean...
