when you adds door or windows be nice if i tag on placement. sometimes i didint. 

i redid some of the doors and when i tagged by category i got numbers. i already had a door that stayed no 1 but the new doors started at say 22 and went sequentially. ok but if you have more than one instance of the door shouldnt they get same tag number? i saw you can go to properites and change number there fine but then how do i know if i have more than one instance. is there a way to automatically renumber tags from the lowest number that left on plan view?

and if you hav e more than one instance to get same number

Edit the tag family and change lebel from Mark to Type Mark if you want the
same doors to have the same #.

Automatically it will not be renamed, the tag just shows the values of the parameters. Fortunately, we dynamo do that. most of the similar case you can find here.  If not you can create your own case and people will help you out.

you can use another parameter to control of it as u need

ok did that but when i save it does a save as.

where do i save the file to?

ok getting confused here. whenmm i edit family and then edit label to change to type mark.i save it it goes automatically to save as. if i choose to over write is says in use .i would think because i have already have tags on there that already exist. do i delete thise and retag all . or do i choose to save as a diiferent name and load new door tag family? same with generic family i loaded it i tage a arch gives me a box . with a ? in it what do i do with taht?

Save where ever you want to keep user created contents. Use another name if you want to keep the original one in your project, if not, you can keep the same name and override when load it in your project.

When tag and see ? just type in the number for the ? and all door of tge same type will have the same number.
