Tag railing elements separately

Hello,

Anyone ever needed to tag Railing elements separately?

Trying to get rid of the pesky Text Notes and start using Tags that pick up from each element's Type Description instead since I feel it is more in tandem with the whole BIM workflow.

Finding that all I can tag is the main Railing family's parameters but not the Railing's Sub-Components (Support, Baluster, Post).

Tried to use a Shared Parameter assigned to both Tag and Elements - > did not work.

Tried to Edit each element and make it a Shared element -> did not work.

Tried to TAB+Select Supports and use the Tag All tool -> did not work.

See image below for clarification of what I am looking for. I have used Text Notes to identify the elements I rather use a Tag instead.

Thanks for your help.

Have you tried to create shared parameters, and associated to each of the following -

and then tag for the shared parameters?

Hi Rina,

That was the first thing I mentioned to have tried, along with other things. It did not work.

Tried to use a Shared Parameter assigned to both Tag and Elements - > did not work.

Tried to Edit each element and make it a Shared element -> did not work.

Tried to TAB+Select Supports and use the Tag All tool -> did not work.

I wonder if adding that shared parameter to a generic tag would work..... maybe the Railing tag is muddying the waters.....

Use a combination of an Element Keynote and User Keynotes (or all user Keynotes).  You still key the same piece of railing but point to different parts and give them different Keynote values.
