Tag for parametric families?

Hi all, I recently created a few parametric families in Revit and I was wondering if there was a way to tag them whilst displaying information continuously? For example, I created an adjustable timber stud detail family which you can edit the dimensions from the properties palette (as apposed to scrolling through reams of detail families) Is there a way to tag it whilst displaying the dimensions changing along with the family? Thanks

- Create a Shared Length parameter, name it [Length]. Assign it to the label of the length dimension in the timber family.
- Create a Tag for the timber family category. Add a label, load and assign the same shared parameter to this label.
- Load the Tag family in your project and tag the timber instances with it. The tag will report the Length.
