Symbol family orientation from multiple directions

Hi,

I'm working on a family with a Generic Annotation/Symbol. What I like about symbols is that...:

  • They always show on top of de model
  • They use the annotation scale, making sure they are always readable.

However, for this specific family I'd like the symbol to be visible from Section-/Elevation views, and from floor plans. Does anyone know how to create a symbol that is visible from multiple view direction?

Thank you kindly!

I've tried the following:

  • In a project I can add a symbol to a floor plan and to elevation view. I need to place separate symbols unfortunately. This is undesirable.
  • In a (model) family I can add a symbol to a floor plan, but not to an elevation view.
  • I've tried a workaround with nested families [Symbol -> Intermediary face-based family -> generic model (rotated in multiple directions) -> Project]. Only the symbol that is directed toward the floor plan is shown.

Annotations are View-Specific.  Sounds like you are describing a model element.

Tell us a little more about this "symbol family". What does it represent?
