Sweep profile - keep vertical

Hi all,

Is the a way to keep sweep profile always vertical? (not perpendicular to the line)

Any help, much appreciated,

I have a sweep line following the steps and the landing in the staircase. Sweep profile acts as a concrete balluster (closed rectangle in a cross section). What I need is a vertical fixed distance from the landing/edge of steps to the top edge of a balluster.

Any ideas?

Sweep an offset Model Line instead

 

 

...or offset the Sketch Boundary from its Origin of the Profile Family (e.g. "Profile Offset")

Does the sweep follow the stringer (sloped) or follow the steps on the stair run?

You can do it as an actual railing instead of an in olace sweep.

Like I said: Sweep can be pathed along a Model Line. And the Profile can be offset from the path.  

 

...I'd go with @ToanDN's suggestion myself -- especially if you already have the Stair Type defined.  Sounds like you do.  Then you could just host the Railing to the existing stairs.

Scratch the railing idea.  It almost works but the vertical profiles between the sloped and the flat segments are still different.  Use sweep blends or a floor with raised sub-elements instead.

Why scratch the Rail? Granted; I have no idea what the design actually looks like, but I thought the Rail idea was pretty good idea. It hosts to and follows the Stairs splendidly.

@Anonymous you cut a section @ the slope and a section at the landing then measure the height of the cut profiles, they are slightly different.  I would go for it myself since it is kinda good enough for me but @Anonymous specifically asked for the profile to be constant.

...even if you need the railing's perpendicular dimensions to remain consistent, it's still just a matter of Landing Height Adjustment.  No?

Landing height adjustment only moves the top of the railing up and down and subsequently, makes the balusters taller or shorter. But it does not change the profile of a rail (a top rail, a handrail, or a non-continuous guard rail).

You sure about that? I guess my Revit's broken then. Top doesn't change. Only bottom moves up and down. Who do I see about this? Smiley Wink

Fine.  But it stills doesn't change the rail profile.
