Sweep path transform on the y-axis

Hello folks,

I have drawn a 2 dimensional sweep path on the reference plane and now want to move parts of the path on the Y axis (like the dot line on the screenshot). Which brings us to my problem - I can't figure it out. The Move tool only allows transformation on the X and Z axes. But I can't set a different working plane either. I hope someone can help me. Thanks.

How accurate do you need it to be? This is about reference planes which are planar (flat). Doing curved geometry like that is difficult using flat planes so you have to split it to different pieces.
I've done a few railing endings that have interesting needs for it's planes, and depending how fine you need it to be, you will probably need 3 to 4 sweeps to do what you want and maybe some voids to clean it up.
If there is a better way I would also love to know 😄

I have 2 solutions for this situation.

1)first solution is the easiest one. I just create my sweep then rotate my model in the right view.

2)secont solution is I just create a refrance plane in the Right view. Then I draw model line(my path) on that refrance plane. Then I create sweep/ create path / "pick line" I picked model line on the refrance plane.

to do something like that I have typically placed a Wall, or a Model in place element, with the top at the angle i wanted. Then use the pick line tool and pick the wall edge when making my sweep path. After the path is made you can delete or hide the wall.

thank you for your answers. Unfortunately, it's not enough to tilt the figure because the geometry I want to create is a bit more complicated (see photos attached). I was hoping there was a way to select individual points on the path and move them up on the y-axis (see screenshot). Do these exist?

Then you are in the wrong environment. You need to be in a generic model adaptive template. Do the curve as a spline with points. Then lift each point to the desired height. Then put a profile on one of the points. Then select the profile and the curve, and do Create Form.

If you want a sweep to travel in all three axis you need to model the path using pick line.

I will model the path using model or ref lines first and use pick path in a 3D view to select them.

You will need to change the ref plane. Here I have drawn a couple model lines on level 1 and then created a sloped ref plane and modeled the other lines on that making sure to connect the lines where the two planes intersect.

Hey folks, thank you so much for your efforts. I have now switched to generic model adaptive as you recommended and drawn the spline path according to the model. But now when I select the spline and the profile and click on create form I get this error message: The shape could not be created. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I've noticed that my spline points look different than in the screenshots from @Alfredo_Medina . I've attached the rfa, maybe someone has the time to take a look at it.

Comments:

1. You have too many points. This form can be made with fewer points. Your points look different because they are set to always show reference planes, in the properties panel.

2. You have 2 curves. This can be done with 1 curve. 

3. Your curves are model lines. It is better to use Reference Lines so that you can continue editing the form. Otherwise the curves are lost when the form is done.

4. The circles are most likely not perpendicular to the curve (that's one of the error messages from Revit). Only one profile is needed, at a point that is somewhere in the middle, and perpendicular to the curve, using one of the planes of a reference point as the host. One profile and one reference spline with a few points works better.

Try again.

Thank you for your advice, especially the tip about working with reference lines was very helpful.

After many attempts I found the problem that prevented the form from being created. For some reason Revit could not create the shape with a 10mm diameter circular profile. After I increased the radius to 6mm it always worked, even with curves that had more points.

I noticed the same when I was testing it. It worked with 4,0mm diameter and 6,0mm but not 5.0mm. I think it was making it loop around it self for some reason.
