Survey point not showing up....

I'm working on view templates and want the survey point to show up in a view. When I assign an old view template to the view the survey point shows. When I use my new template it doesn't show. I've made certain that the survey point is turned on in both the vg overrides and the view template. What else can it be?

Never mind. Mysteriously showed up while I was typing the question. I guess it needed some time to think.

As a sort of aside, do things like this happen randomly in revit from time to time kind of like some buggy behavior with viewports in autocad maybe? It's almost like it fixed as I was flipping back to other views and changing settings to figure out what was happening.
