I am creating a new material in REVIT 2016 and would like its surface pattern to be a combination of solid fill and hatch. Can that be done?

thank you

it is possible to create custom hatch files.

these files have the extension .pat and are actually a scripted file.

here is some information with a few links to .pat file creators

http://autodesk-revit.blogspot.com.au/2011/09/creating-custom-fill-patterns-easy-way.html

unfortunately i don't think its as easy as it sounds without spending something like $125 (as it mentions in above link)

i you go into a materials graphics settings in the material browser you can slightly customise the surface pattern then create a new one and select "custom" instead of simple thats where you can import your .pat file.

i do believe that they can be created using autocad.

check out that link and see what the .pat files that come with revit look like in autocad and try reverse engineer it.

good luck 🙂

No surface patterns are always lines (or a solid).

Depending on what you wat to accomplish you could use the shading to color the background

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

The video was really good, thanks for posting it. I managed to create a new .pat file to include a few new hatch styles but I haven't been able to create a hatch that combines both solid fill and linework.

I believe it is not possible to combine a solid fill with a vector fill.

Revit's solid fill contains no pattern elements and its definition cannot be changed or even deleted from a project.

All other patterns are vector fill patterns containing at least one repeating element.

HatchKit cannot help you achieve the impossible here.
