Super simple mass operation question

Someone just asked me this and it stumped me: 

Conceptual massing : Can anyone explain to me the easiest way to extend the shape below, keeping the angle consistent, like the awful markup I've done?

It's extruded from the plan workplane, using lines, then manipulated to form the angle. 

Masses distort shapes when I pull that straight up, so I'm interested in how any of you would do that.

Before you say it, if I redrew the shape from section, and extruded sideways that'd work, but I'm more interested in the process of the question rather than achieving the resultant shape.

I was able to do it by switching my view to a front view of the form in profile so I could see the angled face in the profile.  Then I added a reference plane by using the "pick" tool and made a reference plane on the angled face.  Now I lifted the top of the mass up. This still makes the angle change, but with the reference plane there, once the top was lifted to wherever it is supposed to be, you can use the Align tool to align the edge back to the reference plane, putting the face back on the angle you need.

Not sure if that is the "easiest", but it was the way that worked for me without too much effort.

Yeah that was where I ended up as well, which is comforting! It just seemed weirdly elaborate!

Sketching it "sideways" as you put it, would make the revision your are describing a whole lot easier.  Then you could just Edit Profile to enter Sketch mode and then pull that top horizontal line upwards.  The angle will not change then. Instead the top horizontal line will shorten to maintain the angle.  

...you need to Lock the Profile though
