Structual Columns

I go to add in my 8x8 posts, instead of being filled in there just lines in preview and come into my model grey

they come in gray opposed to wood like color like in reit 2019

If it's Gray then the material it is using has a Gray Shading. Select the Column and look for it's Material Parameter under it's Properties.  It's likely name "Structural Material".  It probably says "By Category" next to it.   That will mean it is using the Material listed in Object Styles next to the Category of the Column (e.g. "Structural Column" Category).  That Material is typically called "Default" and is gray.  Anyways, you can replace "By Category" with any Material you want from you Library.  Just press on the three dots next the exiting named Material to choose another Material from the Library.
