Does anyone know where I can get a natural stone hatch patter that I can use for elevations?  Revit City is down and I need one quick!

You can get a ton from here.  You'll have to add ;%TYPE=MODEL after the first line (before the hatch pattern definition starts to get it to work in Revit.  Just double click the file to open it in notepad, type or copy/paste the portion above into the definition, and save.  Create a new model pattern in Revit and choose the .pat file you just updated.

We keep links to hatch pattern sources here:

Many are for stone suppliers.

I've downloaded these,  added the %TYPE=MODEL to the file, but on most of them I get and message that either "The pattern with the values you have supplied is too dense. Try increasing the Line Spacing values." or "The pattern with the values you have supplied is too large. Try decreasing the Line Spacing values." Any clues what to do here?

Revit imposes undocumented limits on hatch pattern scale. The first message arises when some element within the pattern is too small - Revit's smallest line length is 1/32" and that is quite a reasonable restriction.  The second message, issued when a pattern has elements with repeat distances greater than about 70 feet, is less understandable.

FAQ - What are the limits on Revit pattern scale?

The upper scaling limit can be avoided by using the HatchKit Add-In for Revit to load patterns. Without the Add-In HatchKit can adjust hatch pattern elements to fall within Revit's scaling limits when loaded with 1:1 scaling.

As of May 2016, all BIM content and dwg files for Buechel Stone's cut stone colors and stone veneer products have been added to Autodesk Seek (seek.autodesk.com/buechelstone) and should have been auto-uploaded and/or readily available for the content libraries provided with Revit Architecture.
