I work for a firm in Israel. We work mostly on residential buildings. The walls of these buildings have a stone cladding on the exterior. The way it works is that the stone is 25 cm. in height followed by 1 cm. of space and so on all up the wall. I need this element to be parametric (the height of the stone and the height of the gap) and to be through out the entirety of the wall. I tried with a reveal but that did not give me the ability to make my own profile of the reveal. Additionally I tried compound walls and splitting the material and editing and modifying it in section preview when editing the structure. Does anyone have any strategies for this?

Hi @Anonymous
There are several ways to do it depending on the purpose of the detailing and LOD/Contract requirement...I do love 3D parametric modeling and I enjoy modeling in complex funny wierd stuff in 3D (not just in Revit) but I do not encourage it where it is not necessary or not required. So I would say the main options you have are (without limitation) as follows
Here is an example from Jeff - TheRevitKid using/creating Wall patterns

An alternative methode is to
An alternative method
and many more methods on the list which one can pick and choose from... If you can be more specific and can advise how advance your Revit modeling skills are one may/might be able to guid you better...just so that you wont get yourself into something that doesn't turn out so good in the end
There are tons of examples on youtube which might be useful and can guide you to the desired result...here is one from an old post on this forum; not your bricks but the same concept applies

HI @Anonymous,
Have you tries using PARTS?
It allows you to divide a layer of a wall using a profile or a simple offset that will create your void between cladding parts.
Here is the link to the official description of the tool:

About the parametric part, you can use reference planes to divide your surface, so you can make them parametric of course.
Don't forget to set the view settings to the right one ("parts only" or "show both") for printing, working and more!

Really appreciate the in depth response. Even though it was not quite what I was looking for, it was very informative none the less. Below is a section and elevation of what I am looking for. I have for the time being used reveals that I designed as a family myself and used an array to spread though out the surface of the wall.I just wish there was a way to do this as a standard or a parameter of the wall definition itself. Would I be able to do this by editing the wall family?

Stone cladding is a popular architectural technique that adds a natural, elegant touch to both interior and exterior walls. By applying thin layers of real or simulated stone, it enhances the aesthetic appeal and durability of buildings. Stone cladding is versatile, offering various design options from rustic to modern styles. It also improves insulation and weather resistance, making it a practical choice for homes and commercial spaces. This method creates a visually stunning finish that combines beauty with long-lasting protection.
