Stairs to floor level

I don't remember stairs going to the floor level. Meaning- the top tread is at floor level and I need the figure what the riser is and offset it by that much.

I think this is something that has changed!

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks!

Set the stair to reach the level and tick End with Riser for the run.

That sounds reasonable but with the residential stairs, those options are not there.

You need to be in Edit Mode.

The option is always there. Tab to select the run or just edit stair and select the run.

Thank you all for your help so far.

If you don't mind, I will start from the beginning with attached images.

I'v been using Revit for over 5 years now and don't remember the top tread being at the floor level. In real life that is not the way a carpenter would build his stairs.

Possibly Revit has always done it, I can't be sure, but I would like to learn how to draw them properly.

Some have suggested editing the stair. I didn't know that you could do much in regard to editing stairs after they were made.

I think some have suggested "Tabing" to somewhere??

If someone could look at the shots I made and please help me understand if there is a way to allow the program to automatically determine the proper way to make stairs?

Thanks!

Below is what Revit does out of the box.  You CAN edit a stair after the fact.  Select it and Edit Stair from the ribbon.  Or you can TAB on a component of the stair such as a Run or a Landing to edit it.

Thank you for trying to help me.

I am able to do what you showed me, but all that does is add a riser.

I also thought that maybe by checking both that it maybe "Set" something.

But nothing changed.

My toolbar looks a bit different than yours. I use 2020

I was always under the impression that there is very little that can be changed in stairs after they are modeled. I don't think you can do things like change the number of risers or the dept of the tread after modeling a stair run?

It seems to me that some setting needs to be fixed before I model the stairs.

Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

Thanks!

The proper way will depend on the stair construction and I presume you are talking about carpentry stairs with exterior stringers.

The minimal length straight run "standard" stair I am used to designing for (as opposed to "architectural" of which I am all for!) ends with a small bullnose and vertical riser finish. To achieve this, I do the following:

1. add a landing to the top end of the stair once you have finished your run;

2. erase the automatically generated string on the floor side of the landing;

3. shorten the landing to the desired projection from the floor structure or finish.

Good luck,
