Staircase Surface Pattern Adjustments

Hi there!

I am unable to find a solution on how to adjust the surface pattern on Staricase - Landings and Treads. I am using Revit 2017.

Anyone has any solutions or suggestions?

Thanks!

P.S. Plan and 3D Patterns do match.

Hi @agha_musakhanov

Welcome to the Autodesk community! Thanks for posting on the forum.

If the stair was created by Component, the floor tile pattern will be visible in 2D view and 3D view, but you will need to use a filled region over the stair treads to get alignment in floor plan view. Below is a short screencast by @Jacob.westergaard with the workflow below:

This feature has been requested for improvement and we will let you know if there are updates in this regard.

Thanks,

if you tab-select on the floor pattern, you can highlight a single hatch pattern line, and then use the up/down arrows to reposition / align the floor's hatch pattern linework to the tread's hatch pattern linework.  You know what I mean?

I know what you mean, but apparently Revit does not allow that for staircases.

True! Not on stairs, but on floors it does.

...and it aligns the model patterns. No need to create detail, view-specific linework.

The surface pattern on stairs on plan views don't update after you align the pattern on a 3d view.  It is a known issue.  You have to use 2d filled regions or overlay a 3d top view of the stairs.

@ToanDN: Am I misunderstanding something here? I can align model hatch patterns of floor so they align with hatch pattern of stairs.

I assume the floor pattern governs and the stair's follows.  Still, we are talking about the functionality of the program, not the design.

(whispering) sorry.. i was just frustrated seeing this post. 5 years ago i have the same problem, never posted it just let it go and created a floor finish above the landing because i have to tag the material with a "real tag". And now 5 years later they solved it with a filled region.

Please fix this. REVIT 2019.

This is a Basic thing that HAS to be solved - and not by using 2D - this is a one time solution per one view at a time.

awaiting your update fix!

thank you.

This has been a bug since oh, about 2005.

I've given up hope of Autodesk ever bothering to fix this OBVIOUS NECESSITY FOR DETAILING A BUILDING.

Still the same problem in 2020.

Pls fix the bugs before you create some new cloud function.

This is not an answer. This is abject failure on the part of Autodesk.

There are just so many issues like this in Revit. I don't care about "construction cloud" or any of that other BS. I just need software that works. grrr as usual.

I don't believe this will solve all of the problems with this issue but the primary question was how to adjust the pattern of the stairs. This can be done with a filter setup to identify the stairs (or any stairs in my case) and override a surface pattern there. I do not think this will solve any tagging problems that were mentioned before.
