Stair Top and Bottom Rail Sloping Extension

Is there a way to allow the top and bottom rails of a sloped railing to stay sloping instead of flattening at the end of the railing path?

I tried to modify the path of the top rail and can get close but cannot 'delete' the line segment creating the flat portion of the railing.

Below is the original version and a version with the modified top rail.  Ideally the top and bottom rail would continue to slope to the face of the column.

Try:

  • Selecting the railing system,
  • Tab to get to the top rail
  • Edit its type so that there is no extension
  • Select edit rail, then edit path on the ribbon
  • Draw your extension to the length needed
  • Click the green check mark

(There may be other ways that are simpler, not sure)

Actually, your response had me making adjustments and I stumbled across the 'Use Landing Height Adjustment' option.  Checking the box and extending it by 4" created the condition I needed.

Thanks!
