Hello Everyone,
I tried to do my best, for model these stairs… but still I could´t find a good workflow to do this.
I have to model a stair like this in the picture. I found two main problems..
1) I want notch in the star and end, and they have to be with the floor (not landing)
2) The level of the structural floor are 9cm lower (over this are other architectural finish floor) and the ending down have to be square.
Some solutions, I don´t have in mind (because are not accurate or not accepted by my client)
- cut profile
- in-place work orounds

Sorry may be I don´t explain very well, I attached this image example… I want to join the precast stair to floors - both up and down to the stair´s run. I think this image is more clearly.
Are you just talking about the "cosmetic" representation? I mean, if it's a precast single flight, the representation you show is correct. But, if you want to remove the visible line work between the element that touch each other (e.g. make them look joined), you can use the Linework Tool on the Manage Tab to do that.
p.s. why not a precast flight w/ integrated landing?
I´m trying to use floors, not just for cosmetic… the floors (structural) are going to be in a Structural Workset, and are the same to other floors, I would like to control the areas and volumen of this floors like others.
If I use landings, I had a problem because the precast stair have to be 12cm higher than the landing/slab floor , I can manage using a tread in the landing, but still another problem ;( it creates a gap between floor and notch.
@alejandro we have been working on these for years. To get the notching just right we have to model each run separately and they will provide the option to extend below base. It then creates that visual of the precast stair sitting in the pocket on the landing. Additionally I have found that if you create a floor for the landing that is 1mm higher than the stair, the whole "extra line" on the floor plan becomes easier to manage! 🙂
Thank you all,
For your help, I keep trying to find how to adjust the more I can to the solution.
@Anonymous How didi you created the notch with the floor? Can you provide some screenshot or screencast?
This seems like something you could just have a detail drawing for rather than modeling it however many times.
@Anonymous , that is true, it does work, and it's a useful tool, but he minute you convert the run to sketch based, the extension below tread base stops with the structural thickness of the run. If it is set to 120, and you need 210, it will stay 120, regardless of the value. How do we fix that?
