Hello,

I finished drafting the floor plans of a huge office space, and now the client wants to change many of the floors to a different material.

I managed to split the floors but I can't change their material, they all still work as one element..

Please help

you can use split surface for splitting into multiple surfaces and then paint each faces individually.

Have you changed the floor to a different type?

For example, one side is concrete and the other timber?

when I have to deal with big buildings that have multiple floor finishes, I usually create two type floors one over another, a Structural and an Architectural one (as it is done in real life on worksite):

  • first ,I create a second row of Levels - structural Levels beside the architectural ones then create the Structural Floors that go on entire surface (if I have an already existing Floor , I turn it into a simple concrete slab). These slabs will be aligned with structural Levels.
  • then, I create the Architectural Floors that consist of multiple layers of insulation, screed and finishes as desired
  • The Structural Levels elevation have to take in consideration the thickness of the Architectural Floors
  • The Structural Levels can be then managed by structural engineer and structural slabs can be changed accordingly .
