Hi Everyone,

I am Facade Designer, and start working in Revit 2016, but facing problem when modifying curtain wall as i required, but i didn't find any options to cut, splice Mullion or joins mullions at my Desired Height of vertical mullions, i searched on Google but can't find solution.

so my request to vote for Cut, splice or Join tool for Mullions in Curtain wall at desired height for getting correct and actual Curtain wall in Drawings and schedule simultaneously.

Thanks

Select the grid line and play with "Add/Remove Segments"

Dear, dr_Grozozo

If i edit Grid line it also split or join Curtain Wall Panels, which i don't want to change my panel sizes.

As u see in attd screenshot, that is the standard Exterior Curtain wall deisgn where mullion break from slab to slab, not at every horizontal mullion.

Hope u understand what my question is.

I don't know of a way to do this currently, with only one curtain wall.

That being said, you can have 2 curtain walls, one with panels only and one for the mullions with your preferred size.

Now I understand...Uh.... that's hard....

But do you need that for some calculations or just for graphics?

Dear, Dr. Gruzozo

I want initially both for graphics and calculation, but first priority is for Scheduling Mullion and panel sizes correctly.

Dear, Mr. BogMatei

First How can i do it with two curtain walls?

and secondly how to join only mullions which bisect at horizontal grid, my first priority is for Scheduling Mullions and Panels.

My mistake, I should have said nested curtain walls.

First make two curtain walls, one for vertical mullions (you can put your desired distance for the said mullions) like the one on the left in the next image and another one for your panels and horizontal mullions like the one on the right.

2 types of curtain wall.JPGThen comes the trick. In the type properties of the left wall (the vertical mullions one), choose the horizontal wall as a curtain panel.

This should take care of your problem.

You shoud get this result (as you can see the vertical mullion covers 2 panels)

Add a horizontal grod where the splice is. Make one row of panels empty. Edit in place the other row and make the panels fill the entire cells. It takes some effort but it can be done.

Dear Mr. BogMatei

Thanks for giving a delightful suggestion, i follow the all procedure as you told, now for vertical mullion the problem is solved but the other problem generate that the size of horizontal mullion increase to same as panel size, actually size of horizontal mullion in between two vertical mullions, i attd the screenshot, give me a suggestion for this also.

Tick the Adjust for Mullion Size option in the vertical type to adjust the horizontal mullions.

I am getting this result on the nested wall:

Select a panel and click Edit in place button on the Ribbon. Rinse and repeat.

Dear Mr. @Anonymous,

Thanks for very helpful replies but you use rectangular mullion section but i am using Profile Mullion in which panel size bigger than Horizontal Mullion, see in attd screenshot. hope u understand my problem.

I think I got it.

If you are using a specific profile for the mullion, go to Families - Profiles in Project Browser and either edit the type properties of your mullion and adjust the parameters so they fit with the panel or if you don't have parameters edit the profile family.

Select a panel, unpin if it is pinned, then you can see Edit in place option. I only tried with system panels so I am not sure if it works with cystom panels.

So i keep trying the nested horizontals into the vertical mullion curtain wall.  i can get that to work, but i still can't get the horizontal mullions to cut back to the vertical mullions (i have tried what feels like every combination of adjust for mullion size)  What am i doing wrong?  is there a specific order?  i would assume i could check this at any point and it would update the curtain wall, but its not
