Snapping to .sat import not working

Hello,

In revit 2021 and before we imported a .sat file in a Metric Generic Model family to use it in a rvt file

In the moment we can't snap to the imported  3D shape anymore. Is there something changed in Revit.

When we open a rfa from a old file whe can snap the shape. When we import the same .sat file in the same rfa family whe can't snap anymore to the new import but still to the old import.

Are we missing a setting in Revit to put the snaps on  for the new import

Nothing should have changed

• What do you mean by snap to exactly?
• Is it the same .sat file you are using in both versions of Revit or are they 2 different ones?

We tested and opened a old file with snapping possibillities and imported te same .sat file again.

The new imported sat shape will not snap  anymore in the rfa

I tried import the same SAT in Revit 2012 and Revit 2022 and they do show differently.  Revit 2019 show it non-faceted and Revit 2022 show it faceted.  Following.

Very interesting. Revit 2018-2020 shows up differently and it is snappable. While 2021-2022 shows faceted and non-snappable. Perhaps this is internal Autodesk Revit dev team need to look at.

For testing we imported the sat file in Autocad and  exported this to dwg and dxf.

Imported this files in Revit but  also no snappoints available in 2022.

If someone has a solution we are anxious for the solution. We need the working sat files  for a new work

Solution  for the moment is to use Revit 201,2019 or 2020  for the import ?

We have installed 2021 and 2022 in the moment.

What is there for Autodesk to look into? ...Try the Attached Family 

Edit: I am guess you have exported the SAT as an assembly.... An alternative to SAT export you can try to Export BIM Object. Those should snap without any added effort

Perfect RDAOU, just like we are used to in the old rfa.

Can we get this when we import the sat files in Revit 2021 or 2022 or do we have to use R19 or R20.

We are not getting it working here in R21 and R22

Yes this is an SAT from inventor imported into Revit 2022...The issue is in how how you exported the SAT from inventor. 

First instead of SAT try to Export as BIM Content >>> Building Component  and see if that works for you...(This will export the Brackets as a .ipt import into  .rfa family which will be a snap-able object) Sample .rfa is attached

You can insert the SAT file in AutoCAD, save it to DWG, then import the DWG in the Revit family.

Well the .sat you attached are from inventor...

Anyways...Continue importing the SAT into Revit 2020 save and then upgrade the .rfa to 2022!! Es soll dann in 2022  genau so wie in 2020 fonktionieren

For a quick and dirty solution the way to go indeed.

Installing Revit 2020 again is a bit backward

Maybe Autodesk is paying attention and will repair the sat import
