Snap to Origin Point at Insertion

Is there a way to get the origin point or insertion point of a family to snap to elements within the model when you are placing the family? I can place a family and then align the family using the reference planes within the family, but I guess I don't really see the value of setting or moving a families insertion point if if it can't snap to anything at the time of placement.

A great example of this would be setting the insertion point of a 2x2 ceiling light fixture at the corner of a fixture. If the insertion point could snap to elements, when you would place the light fixture in the model, you would be able to snap it right to the grid intersection of your ceiling tile. However, currently I find no way to snap this and the best I can do is get it close to the ceiling grid intersection when I place the fixture initially, but then I have to come back and move the fixture if I want it to be exact.

Hopefully I am missing something, otherwise I think I should submit a wish list item to make the insertion point of a family snappable.

Troffers in ACTs?  You're not missing anything.  It has also appeared as a wish list item on and off for years.  You can count on my vote if you go there.

Great, thanks for the feedback. I was just in a Revit User Group where they bragged that changing the insertion point of a troffer was a wonder fix for placing them on the ceiling grid. I should have known when this came from a mechanical engineer, precise drafting was not a consideration and they only cared about getting close. 😮
