hye,

I had Revit 2015, and now I upgraded to Revit 2018. Everything is o.k, but the render slowwwwww.

I try to render a model in revit 2015 it's just 1.5-2 hours, and in revit 2018, it's take 4-5 hours. what can I do?

Thank you!

2015 uses nVidia Mental Ray engine.  2017 and up uses Autodesk own Raytrace engine, said to be better at producing realistic lighting and shadow, with sacrifice in speed, especially for scenes with many artificial lights.

.... to me it has been getting faster with each REVIT release

... what was taking me 10 to 12 hours to render .... today it is 2 ou 3 ...

.... maybe as the program its becoming more and more demanding and complex

... what you probably need is to upgrade your specs

.... in newer computers REVIT rendering goes very fast

If on your PC its faster, so the problem is im my PC, although my PC should be SUPER..

Your picture is amazing!! Just 2 hours?? WOW!

I tried to render and it took me 17 hours, after i deleted a lot of components like cars, plants, trees... and i havn't many artifical light.. On Revit 2015 its just 2 hours!

Hi @yaeli3163

You can find your latest updates from your Desktop App.

Check the Desktop App to see if there are any Revit updates available. For information on using the Desktop App see the following article: About the Autodesk Desktop App

Have you tried establishing other baselines for comparison? In other words, have you tried Rendering anything else in both versions?  Maybe something smaller?  I mean, you're talking a ridiculous disparity in Rendering times. I think something else is going on here.  The difference shouldn't be 15 hours!

I'm just checking back to see if you had a chance to install the updates?

That's absurd!  There's something else going on here.  Did you try a 2015 Rendering using Raytracer (not Mental Ray)?

Can you post the file?

.... could you upload your model with an outside transfer metod ?

... like google transfer

... or wetransfer

... or transferbigfiles

... or dropbox

.... so we can take a look

.... is this happening for all projects , in all renderings?

... or just one specific?

... maybe that specific file is corrupted?

Details on render settings would help.  If you're exporting a very high resolution at maximum quality it *will* take a long time.  In general, one of the medium-quality settings produces a good compromise in quality vs. time for 1080p and lower resolutions.

Hi @yaeli3163

Thanks for responding!

Here is an article which touches on a lot of reasons for slow performance in Revit. There are some steps to try such as disabling add-ins that you can try. For graphics cards, please reference the certified list for cards that have been tested with Revit. Let me know if you have any questions, thanks!
