Is there a simpler way to make a wood plank ceiling with offset planks? Is there something that I can setup to automatically layout the planks on a ceiling, like a pattern or adaptive family? I would like to be able to draw the boundary of where the planks will go and then have it fill in that area. The planks need to be able to be changed in width and length and reveal between planks. I also need to be able to see the joints of planks, and the joints will have to be offset (otherwise id just use the sloped glazing roof system and be done with it).
I'm currently using a generic model that I created that I array throughout the ceiling and then create masses at diagonal cuts, but this is taking too much time and I feel there is a better way.

Sloped Glazing if you want to model it or a Model Surface Pattern if you don't.
...actually, I take that back. I'd model it with 1/2 Step or 1/3 Step Pattern-Based Curtain Panels on a Divided Surface.
I would prefer to model it, but how would that work with the sloped glazing. I have done it where the planks are shown but I can't seem to figure out the plank joints. Is there something I'm missing?

Sloped glazing is just non vertical curtain wall. You can add grids to divide the ceiling to panels.
