show precut option not working

I was given a project where the beams although they have the show precut option selected they don't show up correctly in plan view.

If i copy them to another location they still don't show up correctly but if i create a new one with create similar it works properly.

is there a way to restore the precut option to the existing beams? any ideas?

Hello

What are you mean with precut?

Can you attach a picture? When I open your project those sloped beams looks like they should. Are you mean this?:

no they don't.

its the same family as you can see and the above is cut by the cut plane while the one below is shown full.

both have the precut option selected its the same family actually so they should appear the same.

you can find the show precut button when you edit the family

OK, I get it. In fact I have never used this function, so thank you for telling about this. And your issue seemed to be some kind og a bug. Two same object in the same project shouldn't behave them self differently. Interesting to find out how it can be solved.

Link the model to a new file and bind it.

It worked for me.  See screencast.

What I did was group all the Beams together then create the external file and then reload it and bind it which failed to restore the Beams behavior.

I will go with your method instead. Link the whole .rvt file which obviously works.

Thanks in advance!

unfortunately it did not work! you are at coarse detail in your screencast, the error appears in medium and fine detail level. Grrrrrr

Strange.  It work fine here regardless the detail level.  Below is the one after linked and bound in a new file.

You are correct.  I was looking from the level above.

Maybe you have to recreate them as the last resort.
