Show object as hidden lines

I'm trying to make a wall opening visible as hidden lines but I can't get it to work.

I only need the opening part, I've filtered out the entire wall yet I still don't get the entire opening.

On the first image you can see only a part is shown as hidden, when I select the object you can see all 4 lines, that's what I want it to look like. 

Can anybody help?

It's still the same wall opening, I wanted it to show as hidden lines, so what has changed? 

I guess it would be easier loading in the families, the thing is we would have to do this ourselves, since the creators of said model do no want to edit their families. Doing this we lose information added into custom properties, that's why I'm using a different model linking theirs, in order to get the layout I want in the coordinated drawing.

So I guess the most practical solution is to use linework for the openings to show the hidden lines on the floorplan, then when the model updates the lines remain the same, we'd only have to do this once.

I'm not totally clear about what you are trying to achieve, but have you considered Phasing and Phase Filters?

Unless you have more than one view to show the openings as hidden lines.

The situation is as follows: we have a structural model and an architectural model, the architectural model has the structural model linked in order to have a complete building design.

In the structural model there are wallopenings / voids that still have concrete above the opening, like the screenshot I've added. 

When the architect links his model there is a complete opening without hidden lines to indicate there's still concrete above the opening. I want the concrete to show as hidden lines like in the screenshot below.

I've tried adding filters, changing the cutplane and view, now I was planning to go through the entire model to use the workline tool for all the voids that have concrete above them. So my solution atm is I've created a new model and linked the structural model as an attachment instead of an overlay. Created a viewtemplate and changed the viewrange to cut the beams and openings in the project and set filters to make the lines show as hidden lines. (See earlier post that the voids didn't show hidden lines on all sides, but with the workline tool it does). This model is then linked into the Architectural model, yet the voids aren't showing like the desired situation, so that's where I get stuck.
