Show extrusion as hidden in furniture systems family

Hello All,

Today I'm modelling a furniture systems family with an l-shape desk and two pedestals. I would like to have Revit show the portion of the pedestals that are underneath the desk as hidden lines. How on earth do you accomplish this? Right now I just have it shown via detail lines but would like to find the "proper" way to do things if possible. 

1.) The pedestals are just extrusions within the family- not nested

2.) The visibility/graphics overrides for the pedestals have been set to not display in Plan/RCP

3.) I have not overridden any of the object styles

4.) I have tried creating the pedestal geometry in a new casework family and nesting it in the furniture systems family but this did nothing for me.

Edit Visibility Settings of all the geometry and check Plan/RCP.

Draw symbolic hidden lines on the tabletop ref plane in the family and set them to NOT draw in foreground.

Actually, I think you meant this?

If so, temporarily hide the Desktop in the Plan View and then trace the pedestal with Symbolic Detail Lines (Hidden).  Leave Draw in Foreground checked.  When you're done, make the Desktop visible. Voila!

As a follow-up, is there a way to control the line scale of hidden symbolic lines in the family editor? As you can see on the screenshot, the dash is at one scale in my furniture systems family with another right next to it. I would prefer the scale on the left as it's used throughout the model. Possible?

@Anonymous no, those were left visible in plan on purpose. I was really looking to hide just the portion of the pedestal that would be hidden by the workstation.

Assign them to a subcategory such as <Hidden Line> or a custom one, then change the subcategory lien pattern/weight/color via Object Styles in projects.

@barthbradley that looks really good! Same idea but just with the pedestals (extruded cubes on either end of the worktop) instead of the support (extrusion placed at a 45 degree angle). I used this exact idea and it worked wonderfully. Thanks to you and @ToanDN for all the assistance!
